In the past week I had my photo-shoot for my product and managed to develop my double page spread on InDesign. Skills I developed on InDesign during the production was how to add a text flow, quote insert and make the first letter of the article bigger. The text flow enables the article to be more efficient, the quote inset and the first letter of the article being in a bigger font makes the article look more exciting and more appealing to the reader instead of it just being a boring print throughout.
During my photoshoot, I developed skills that helped me to create the affect I was looking for in my pictures, for example:
Skills I developed on photoshop included editing the photos to desaturate the image, and using the brush tool to go around the background to make it blend white to fit the background of the page. For example:
As you can see, the photograph on the left has a greyish background, but the background of my front cover is white, therefore I had to turn the grey background to white. To do this, I used the brush tool with a low opacity of 40% to blend the background of the image into white.
Here, as you can see the photograph on the right is exactly the same as the left but desaturated, this was to create a bland effect to emphasise the negative effects of alcohol. However, to improve this further I could desaturise only the model on the right and leave the model on the left to further emphasise the contrast between them as good and bad students due to the influence of alcohol.
I was very happy with the results of my photoshoot as the images portray the story I was looking for perfectly through everything from facial expressions to props. Nothing went wrong and therefore no contingencies were needed to put it right. Now I have my photoshoot completes, I can focus on the final products of my double page spread and get started on completing my front cover in time for the final deadline.
